Serena Stubbs - Photographer for Birubi Images
My passion for photography began when my children were very young. I was one of "those" mothers who followed the kids around constantly with the camera. But as they started to grow, and my subjects became less obliging (all of a sudden I couldn't manage a shot that wasn't obscured by bunny ears!), I turned my attention to landscapes. And, living in the beautiful Port Stephens, I am definitely spoilt for choice of locations to shoot. Photography is not my profession (I'm a geeky accountant) but it is my passion.
Birubi Images is named after one of Port Stephen's famous beaches, the Aboriginal meaning of Birubi is "Southern Cross". If you're in the area it's a must see for its long expanse of beach, with views stretching all the way to Newcastle. It's also the gateway to the largest sand dunes in the Southern Hemisphere (which can be explored on foot or by 4wd), and by night it's one of my favourite places to view the stars.
Some people want to know what equipment I use to take these images, so while this is not all-inclusive, my main "toys" are as follows:
Camera Bodies :
Canon 5D Mark IV
Camera Lenses :
Canon EF 16-35 mm f4 IS USM
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM
Samyang 14mm f/2.8
Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary
Other Gear :
Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop for editing
What else you may like to know...
I take heaps of photos and they do not all feature on my website. In fact, I only post a small portion of my images here. The photos here are my favourites. But we are all unique individuals. And a photo to many people is much more than a "pretty image on the wall". It's their home beach, their favourite holiday spot, the park their kids laughed the loudest, the jetty they saw an amazing sunset. That's why if there is any other image you are interested in then please hit me up. I also have a wide range of images on Facebook and Instagram and post regularly.
